As the database guy I have been the recipient of these projected voting sheets for several weeks now. They list the name, address, phone number and have a rating system from 1-5 which indicates the voter’s likelihood to vote for our cause. There is also a comment section.

I love the comments section. For folks going door to door or stuck on a phone with a prospective but chatty voter it is the pollster’s opportunity to jot down their personal feelings, often without thinking that someone else would read them.

These include comments like:
· Not at home
· Hung up

But then there are my favorites (1 is a yes vote, 3 unknown and 5 is a no vote):
· 1: Husband will vote yes too if he knows what’s good for him
· 1: Live in girlfriend will vote yes too. He’s 95!
· 1 2 3 4 5: Ran out of numbers but not opinions.
· 3: Wife hasn’t told him yet
· 1 (Mrs.) 5(Mr.): Still arguing
· 5: Just left a bar
· 5: Yelled. Bad Breath

It must be very trying to be a pollster.

Other information included in the sheet includes deceased voters and those who moved. I offered to create laminated Ids for each of these individuals. I could not vote for all the individuals as my mustache limits my ability to impersonate the women; just the older ones of certain nationalities.

As Mayor Daley said, “Vote early, Vote Often”.
